As an advertising professional, attending ADFEST 2023 was a must-do for me. The event was held at Pattaya Exhibition And Convention Hall (PEACH), Royal Cliff Hotels Group, Pattaya, Thailand, from Thursday 23 to Saturday 25 March 2023. As soon as I received the information about the event in an email from the Advertising Association of Nepal (AAN), I was intrigued to learn more about it.

ADFEST is known as Asia’s most celebrated regional creative festival, and it was founded in 1998 as a place for the creative industry to come together to network, exchange ideas, and be inspired. The annual festival is crucial to stay at the forefront of the rapidly changing creative, marketing, and production industries.

The theme of ADFEST 2023, “Rise”, is a call to action to the creative industry to rise above challenges and push the boundaries of creativity, innovation, and inspiration. It encourages professionals to embrace new technologies, explore diverse cultures and perspectives, and elevate their work to new heights. “Rise” also embodies the spirit of resilience and perseverance, urging creatives to overcome obstacles and rise to the occasion with fresh ideas and bold visions. With this theme, ADFEST 2023 aims to inspire a new wave of creativity and collaboration, leading to groundbreaking ideas and impactful campaigns.

ADFEST is more than just a creative festival, it celebrates the uniqueness of local culture and raises the standard of creative excellence in the region. The festival is a learning hub for those in the communication industry to showcase the region’s best creative works and inspiring content. It’s also the perfect place to relax, learn, and meet new friends in the industry.

What stood out to me most about the event was the venue’s location and dates. PEACH was strategically chosen to take attendees to a peaceful and accessible location, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The venue was beautifully organized with timely presentations, and the atmosphere inside the venue was pleasant, despite the hot weather outside.

2. Speakers from around the globe

Another highlight of the event was the diverse lineup of speakers from around the world, including the United States, Canada, Denmark, France, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Thailand, China, Vietnam, Singapore, India, and many others. This brought together a variety of mindsets, providing an opportunity for learners like myself to witness different markets of advertising, their tastes, styles, culture, and challenges.

ADFEST 2023 showcased some of the most innovative and creative works from around the globe. It was fascinating to see how brands and agencies from different regions were tackling similar problems in unique and creative ways. The awards were presented in various categories, including film, design, print, outdoor, direct, digital, mobile, integrated, branded content and entertainment, media, and PR. Winning a Lotus award is a prestigious achievement for any creative agency, as it acknowledges their hard work and innovative ideas. The atmosphere was electric, and it was inspiring to see so many talented individuals and teams being recognized for their hard work and creativity. I was particularly moved by the emotional speeches from the winners, who expressed their gratitude and dedication to the craft of advertising. It was an unforgettable experience, and I left feeling inspired and motivated to continue pushing the boundaries of creativity in my own work.
